Our People

Head Winemaker Jane De Witt simply loves wine and everything about it.

This love of wine started at an early age where she remembers wine being ever-present at family dinners and get-togethers. There were also the trips to West Auckland where her parents would purchase their wine direct from the winery and she would first experience the joys of a tank farm – albeit as a 10 year old, this was the joys of an echo when shouting into an empty tank! Looking back she says ‘the smell, the wine, the vineyards and the romance of the experience has never been forgotten’.

Tertiary education was followed by travel to Europe’s key wine regions honing her palate, working vintage in Surrey, England, and employment at a number of wineries here at home where she has continued to refine her skills and craft.
Today, with 18 years experience in the wine industry working various roles from Lab Technician to Cellar Manager, she oversees the winemaking operations for Corbans.

“It’s a brand I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of. I love working with a brand so rich in heritage, and one that places such high importance on making great wine accessible to all New Zealanders”.
When not busy making wine, Jane can be found north of Auckland with her husband and two young children on their 125 acre block at Te Arai Beach.
